EPIRB - Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon - REGISTRATION

                        Register Your EPIRB with BASARNAS

ResponSea Alliance is helping BASARNAS make sure every EPIRB in the region is properly registered. This matters: a registered EPIRB is instantly linked to your vessel and contact details, so if it’s ever activated, search and rescue teams know exactly who and where you are, and can respond faster. An unregistered beacon only slows things down.

Here’s how to check and register yours:

  1. Go to https://idrb.basarnas.go.id/
  2. Use the “Registrasi di Sini” search section to check if your EPIRB is already registered.
    • If it shows up, you’re all set, no further action needed.
    • If nothing shows up, click “Daftar / Login” to create an account, then follow the instructions to register your EPIRB.

1st Multi-Agency Simulation

On August 2nd, 2026, ResponSea organized the very first multi-agency drill/simulation aboard KLM Majik. Not the first drill for Majik itself, but the first time this kind of multi-agency exercise was conducted in Labuan Bajo. BASARNAS Labuan Bajo acted as facilitators on board, while the port authority (KSOP) prioritized VHF Channel 16 for an “Exercise, exercise, exercise MAYDAY” call. Trust Marine, the management company of KLM Majik, and DAN World Indonesia also took part in the scenario, handling emergency phone calls and medical advice.

Who’s going to be the next boat?

Search & Rescue Operation - OPSAR

Just two days after our first BASARNAS training session came to an end, a search and rescue team was deployed to locate a missing victim.

Ivan, a ResponSea dive instructor who had also taken part in the KM Putri Sakinah operation, volunteered without hesitation. He paired up with Masnun, a well known local diver, to join the underwater search.

After just 20 minutes in the water, their team located the victim’s body, allowing BASARNAS to bring them safely back to the surface. The outcome, sadly, you already know.

SAR Training

From July 9th to 12th, ResponSea started the diving training program with BASARNAS (Indonesian National Search & Rescue Agency). This first session allowed us to train 7 of their personnel as PADI Open Water Divers, 5 of them based in Labuan Bajo and 2 from Ende. We believe this program will greatly help train the new generation of rescuers in the best possible way.
